Conduct IKME Research, monitoring and evaluation

Since IKME is new in South Africa very little research has been conducted in the country. The centre conducts research in these areas alone or with other centres in the country. Monitoring and evaluation is important in measuring progress in this area in the country. Monitoring and evaluation of IKME activities will be facilitated or conducted by the centre alone or in collaboration with other centres.

Standards development and standardization in the area of Informatics and knowledge management is important to be able to ensure quality through out the country. Standards are crucial for comparative purposes, integration and interoperability. Currently there is no standard generating body in this area and the centre may facilitate for such development and or may develop standards or lead such processes in collaboration with the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS). The centre may organize for the development of new standards within South Africa or import standards and customize for South Africa. SABS will be involved in these processes.
