This module introduces participants to the concept of knowledge economy and explains what knowledge economy is all about and what is expected of various institutions, government, academic institutions, research and individuals in the knowledge economy

Why should you attend?
The world is moving rapidly towards knowledge economy. In some developed countries the concept is better understood by players. Even in South Africa some government strategies do refer to knowledge based economy. Generally people in South do not understand what this knowledge economy is all about. Individuals, academic institutions, organization, government, business industry and communities as players in
Knowledge economy must prepare them selves so that all of them are ready to compete and play in the knowledge economy. Therefore, academic institutions must provide human resources that will fit in the knowledge economy. Both public and private organizations and government must empower themselves through their employees and necessary structures and infrastructure to make South Africa competitive in the knowledge economy.
